About Ashleigh
Ashleigh Enriquez, M.S., is a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher with certifications in Secondary Science and K-12 Special Education, Yoga, and Health.
Ashleigh has been teaching yoga and mindfulness to organizations and individuals of all ages for over 8 years. This has included mindfulness group classes and individual mindfulness wellness coaching with adolescents, children, businesses, schools, young & mature adults, and mothers.
She has taught students of all abilities in academics, stress management, life skills and wellness since 2005. Her Masters in Health Promotion Management from American University brings a whole-person wellness focus to her teaching.
Ashleigh has always focused on growth for others and herself with a passionate belief that one can thrive even in the face of vast challenges. The challenges she has faced personally include a learning disability, chronic pain and illness, financial difficulties, and becoming a mom of twins (both a challenge and a blessing!).
Ashleigh was introduced to mindfulness and meditation as a young child through her best friend. As a young adult, she continued to develop her contemplative practice individually through books. Seeking more community and understanding of the teachings, she joined the insight community in 2010 and attended several classes, small groups, residential and non-residential retreats.
Her journey has had many chapters with joy, fear, drama, surprises, stuckness, romance, heartwarming and heartbreaking moments. Most of all it's been full of change and will continue to be. Which is why her tools of choice, though there are many, are mindfulness, movement, and sangha (community).
One continual motivation for Ashleigh is motherhood, which frequently puts us in “survival mode” and forces us to keep learning and growing whether we like it or not! She knows that the best leader is one who leads by example, and she continues to learn with and from her children while setting an example for them.
People who know Ashleigh will say that she’s an open book, but one that wants to be opened/asked before sharing. Which is why she’s been slow to start this venture or join social media, but also why she encourages you to reach out, connect, and ask questions!
Ashleigh’s core belief is that everyone is doing just about the best they can on this journey of life—even when we are stuck and especially when we are in survival mode. The key is how we handle life during and after these times. She believes that with growth mindset and grit we can expand ourselves beyond survival and into thriving in all areas of our life, and with that we can begin to have a positive ripple effect on others.
